Brush Removal Program-- 2010 Pick-up dates listed below

Important: Piles of brush larger than 3' high and 12' wide will not be picked up.

Oswego Township Road District offers brush and leaf pickup as a service to residents in the unincorporated areas.
The Township Brush Removal Program is for the homeowner's convenience. We have a brush chipper designed to mulch those limbs and braches that do not qualify as yard waste. Our equipment is not designed to grind small twigs and evergreen trimmings. Your garbage service will take yard waste and roots for a nominal cost. If it fits into a bag, it is yard waste and will not be accepted by the township.

Storm Damage- within three (3) days after a severe storm, the township will start brush pickup to remove debris. A severe storm is defined as a storm producing enough damage that the township road crews need to clear road and right-of-ways of trees/branches for traffic. Should a tree come down during a storm on private property, it is the responsibility of the homeowner for its proper disposal.

This brush pickup program is for the sole use of the residents of Oswego Township. and shall not be used by contractor and/or residents clearing lots for homes, private roads, or entrances for more open space. Cutting down a tree is not considered to be trimming or pruning and the township will not remove the debris.

When: Have brush at the curbside by 7:00 am on Monday of the last full week of the month April through September. Any brush left out at the curb after this time will not be collected.
What is acceptable: Limbs over two feet long with no limbs over 5 inches in diameter.
How: Laid as neatly as possible with the butt ends toward the street and parallel to each others. Do not cut into short pieces or wrap anything around the piles.
What is not acceptable: tied bundles, short clippings, root balls, bags of branches, or bushes.
Please do not "hide" thorny tree braches inside piles. Place these branches next to the larger piles and our crews will take special care with them.
